When I lived in NYS, I found that outsides thought the entire state was paved with concrete and skyscrapers and everybody was an insane liberal. They projected NYC onto the entire state. Projection like that is never a good idea. People outside NYC are in some of the most rural country and small towns in the US and usually have good conservative values.
I live in CA and the same is true here. Get out of LA, Bay Area, and Sacto and its the same mix of good people. Please try to refrain from such uninformed broad brush generalizations.
My Brother-in-Law’s Sister is married to a New York State trooper. I guess he is retired now. They live in upstate New York.
I met them only once in Virginia and I will have to say they are some of the few people who are more conservative than me. Also devout Christian.
True up to a point. I lived in California for 69 years and saw it all change. Ninety percent of the people in California ARE that way. The cities set the way it is believed by outsiders. Change the cities and the perception will change.
I do respect your reply and I thank you for it, however I will state what I’ve seen first hand.
True, I’m from the bay area, and there are good conservative folks there, just outnumbered. Some other parts of the State are very conservative.
You are correct about New York State. The rural areas are conservative. They are a lot like Texans but their accent is not. They are good people. Even after 20 years in Texas they still talk funny. They say the same thing about us.
