Anyone who isn't a racist would know the answer to that question instantly, since of all the many factors that might enter into whether a friendship was "OK" or not, skin color by itself isn't one of them.
But apparently the professor is a racist, and what he is advocating is at its core harmful to everyone.
Personally I don’t give a rip about anyone’s race other than its possible interesting historical components. But when someone has the attitude this so -called educator has, and comes at me with it? You better believe I have contempt for him. In fact raw contempt is probably the nicest thing he could expect from me.
I would say it’s not appropriate to appropriate white culture. If you ungrateful racist aholes want to keep up with the ‘white privilege’ bs, then you don’t get to benefit from anything the ‘white privilege culture’ produces, creates, invents, writes, etc

There was a time when Yeshiva Un., like Brandeis, was a respected Jewish center of learning. Today both are centers of Marxism, self-hating Jews, self-hating whites, and just crazy aholes with teaching certificates.
PS: My liberal cousin went to Brandeis when it was sane. Unfortunately she was not totally sane, being a truly blind liberal, but a nice person. Thanksgiving dinners were a hoot. I could write a book about them - art, music, Jackson Pollock, who was the author of an obscure piece of 18th C. opera, medical issues, the anti-Semitism of the old Johns Hopkins Un.
