Trump’s much heralded Defense Secretary has not lifted a finger to clean out the rot in the military left by Obama and his Generals. Come to think of it, Mattis was one of his Generals. Trump’s exclamations that we are rebuilding the military and it is the strongest ever are BS from start to finish. Even his mediocre effort to clean out the cross dressers was countermanded by Mattis with not a peep of protest from Trump.

Mattis can't wave a magic wand and make appear a crop of men that are fit and able to be trained. At some point in time the citizenry owns this. Most kids can't pass the ASVAB, have mental and moral issues, or are too fat.

Doesn't help to engage in endless wars without a strategy to win, and retirement benefits have been severely cut. Who wants to bleed for that?

You have understated this to the max. The fact is today’s youth are worthless. Less than 30 % can make any kind of basic qualifications and you'd really only want the top ten percent. But those are the ones who have a good future and don't need the armed services.

ANYTHING that weakens unit cohesion does NOT belong in the military...it’s that simple.

It is upsetting to me but at one time it was harmful for unit cohesion to integrate with blacks, and thus it would have been a bad idea at the time :-/

Dude, I work in the 5 sided building in Arlington, VA. I know the issue cold. I didn't understate it, but I felt no need to give stats. The studies have already been done. Gen Snow knows he is working with crap. So does Mattis, but they can't change society.

That is a Congress issue- and the people that sent them there.
