Paddock is accused of using a bump stock to get a "machine gun" effect to his firing. No way he could fire accurately with the constant recoil. Of course, his victims, at least initially, were so tightly packed together that aiming wasn't really necessary.
In a situation where there are multiple assailants after your ass, a gun like this might be useful. But in most defensive situations, I doubt it.
