On January 10, 49 B.C., Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon River in Northern Italy, with his legions to march on Rome. While crossing the narrow river, Caesar is said to have remarked, Iacta alea esto, The die is cast, in reference to his defiance of Roman law, which forbade any general from crossing the Rubicon and entering Italy with an army. To do so was tantamount to high treason. Caesars action made his intentions crystal clear to those in Rome. He intended to join the struggle for power, as civil war loomed.
Since that day, the term, Crossing the Rubicon became a metaphor for passing the point of no return, for Caesar knew that if he failed in seizing power in Rome, he would be executed.
Caesar was successful in his bid for dictator and began on day one to drain the Roman Swamp and to Make Rome Great Again.
He immediately established a new constitution, which was intended to accomplish three separate goals. First, he wanted to suppress all armed resistance out in the provinces, and thus bring order back to the Republic. Second, he wanted to create a strong central government in Rome. Finally, he wanted to knit together all of the provinces into a single cohesive unit.
Caesar set out to pass an ambitious legislative agenda. He ordered a census be taken, which forced a reduction in the grain dole, and decreed that jurors could only come from the Senate or the equestrian ranks. He passed a sumptuary law that restricted the purchase of certain luxuries. After this, he passed a law that rewarded families for having many children, to speed up the repopulation of Italy. Then, he outlawed professional guilds, except those of ancient foundation, since many of these were subversive political clubs. He then passed a term-limit law applicable to governors. He passed a debt-restructuring law, which ultimately eliminated about a fourth of all debts owed.
The most important change, however, was his reform of the calendar. The calendar was then regulated by the movement of the moon, and this had left it in a mess. Caesar replaced this calendar with the Egyptian calendar, which was regulated by the sun. He set the length of the year to 365.25 days by adding an intercalary/leap day at the end of February every fourth year.
To bring the calendar into alignment with the seasons, he decreed that three extra months be inserted into 46 BC (the ordinary intercalary month at the end of February, and two extra months after November). Thus, the Julian calendar opened on 1 January 45 BC. This calendar is almost identical to the current Western calendar.
From the beginning, Caesar was surrounded by enemies, who were jealous of his immense wealth, envious of what they saw as his dictatorial power and scornful of his planned reforms. Caesar was at war with the establishment, which wanted to return to the old days of total greed and corruption.
Sound familiar? The more things change, the more they stay the same
On the Ides of March, March 15th, 44 B.C., Caesar was murdered by several Senators, while on the way to make a speech in the Senate.
Enter President Trump
Like Caesar, Trump is intent on making reforms and draining the swamp.
Like Caesar, Trump wants to make his nation great again.
Like Caesar, Trump is surrounded by enemies.
On November 8, 2016 A.D. (yes, thats Anno Domini liberals), America crossed the Rubicon by electing President Trump, an electoral victory that has divided a nation and which may have caused a schism which is irreparable.
As a united nation, we may very well be at the point of no return.
To push their agenda, that Trump cheated the nation and Hillary Clinton out of a liberal Presidency, the MSM is hard at work, like insane Keebler Elves, working 24/7 to concoct fake news about the President: hes mentally ill, hes a racist, he hangs out with prostitutes, etc.;and the real biggie, the fairy tale that he colluded with Russia during the election.
Half of the country will never accept Donald Trump as President of the United States, no matter what feats of grandeur he accomplishes.
Half of the country thinks that men who believe theyre women should use the ladies room and shower with little girls.
Half of the country believes in open borders.
Half of the country believes illegals should be given citizenship.
Half of the country believes Trumps travel ban is cruel to unvetted Muslims coming from war-torn countries that promote terrorism.
Half of the country wants the government to confiscate your firearms and to enact universal gun control, like they have in socialist Europe.
Half of the country believes that socialist Europe is the premier model for the USA.
Half of the country says its okay to raise their taxes to pay for more big government programs.
Half of the country thinks that Obamacare is a marvelous success and the precursor to a Canadian style single payer health care system, instead of a harbinger of governmental horror.
Half of the country believes that the Iran Deal was a foreign policy success story.
Half of the country thinks that the Antifa are just misguided kids, not Marxist thugs.
Half of the country wants a platitude screaming former talk show host with a closet full of skeletons and train full of emotional baggage to be the next President, because she cares, makes us feel good and will set us right after we all have a collective cry as a nation.
Half of the country believes that the 10 happiest words in the English language are: Hi, Im from the government and Im here to help.
Half of the country wants a fight with the right, refuses to listen to logic, is powered by irrational emotion and condones violence to reach its goals, that goal being a country totally juxtaposed with the principles set forth by the Founding Fathers.
On November 8, 2016, the United States crossed the Rubicon, and as with Caesar, things will never be the same again.
We’ll take the south and they’ll all freeze to death singing Kumbaya after they shut down all of their power plants in the name of Goebbels Warming.

>But he declared himself emperor, didnt he?
Nope. Senate voted him dictator after half of them fled. First Roman Emperor was Augustus.
>He certainly overthrew the entire government, by force, in his own name, an act having no comparison with Trumps due process election as President.
About half the Senate fled before Ceaser arrived and they joined up with Pompey. The dirty little secret of the end of the Roman republic is by Ceaser’s time the Senate didn’t really want to rule and guys like Pompey called the shots. He never had to use force on sitting senators in Rome, they were easy enough to bribe to his side or they were openly at war with him under Pompey.
Trump’s busy overthrowing the permanent US government employee by employee. While Trump’s actions are completely legal, to the left and the permanent government it feels like a coup.
>I can see it though! To the liberal mind, Trump carried revolutionary baggage into the office. But this is without acknowledgment or respect for the legitimate structure of government. To them, Trump is a weather bomb.
Yep, and like Ceaser, he’s in mortal danger.
Well, I hate to quibble, but I will! Trump did not "gain power" in the sense that Julius Caesar did. To say so imples some exceptional significance to his election, which I don't recall hearing about in the Presidential elections that I've experienced in my lifetime.
I mean JFK ... come on ...
Agreed! But they think they are actually more than half - they can't imagine that sane people would disagree with them and don't comprehend that there are so many people that do disagree with them. They will start a fight they can't finish. The ones pulling the strings - people like Soros and maybe even people behind him - know the true ratio but expect to profit from the chaos. Some of us won't allow that.
Rome wasn’t unnaturalized until Roman Emperor Caracalla. Lincoln unnaturalized the United States.
Thank you for the excellent essay.
Positive: learning about ancient politics and the calendar is enjoyable.
Negative: generalizing with “half” is confusing. It is better to say a non-50% number.
For example, “Half of the country believes in open borders.” False. “61% of Americans think Immigration Jeopardizes United States,” according to Bloomberg on March 7, 2016.
With Trump as President, the media is losing their moral authority, Robert Dinero is losing his fans, and universities are losing their objectivity. Good news.
BS. Half the country doesn’t even vote.
Then build a wall around it .
Game over.
You really need to look at election results and learn to count. Your analysis only applies to land mass not where people live.
Unless the two left coasts are obliterated, they win in the long term.
The advantage of underestimation only works once.
That sums it up perfectly.
I fear it’s going to happen though. NWO America has too many in high positions of authority unfortunately.
And our side is constantly pointing the finger at each other with false accusations and ridiculous drama.
“Friendly fire” casualties will be high.
Meant to be ‘dye’, as in once the dye is cast into the tub of cloth, there is no going back.
Except he didn't say it in English. In Latin, there are separate and distinct differently-sounding words for "dice/die" and "dye" ...
