When “just-in-time” delivery is taken to the extreme.

Man-made famine.

Combined PING! and DANG!

Actually, it is not. They are attempting JIT logistics where frequencies do not match pull (need). Who cares is an Amazon order is a day late....but empty shelves cost immediate and long termblosses. Many of the good grocery folks have walked, others have nice deals with guarantees but will once those wane. BTW, my input comes from discussion with FORMER WF folks who told me it would not work months ago.

Why would anyone go to a store that has nothing to sell?

Thanks. I’ll check our local WF in the next few days. I was there a couple days ago and didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. The thing that struck me about WF last year was they reconfigured the shelves to sell a lot more personal health care products and shrank the food section. I swear there are two fewer food aisles than when they opened maybe ten years ago. It seems like maybe 35% to 40% of the floor space is devoted to food.

If you eat whole foods, you might be healthy. They don’t want you healthy. They want you to eat crap, be unhealthy, buy drugs and die quickly to reduce the population. /sarc

I’d never heard of ‘Sprouts’ before, so I looked them up and took their Virtual Tour. They look similar to ‘Trader Joe’s’ which we have in our area - but nicer, actually. My Sister likes to shop at TJ’s; I’ve been a few times, but for a hipster store, they sure sell a lot of processed, packaged cr@p! Yikes!

Anyhow, that Sprouts looks very nice!

“NFL.... Whole Foods... What’s next?”

The left is ruining Planned Parenthood, their Cash Cow for baby body parts! Many Governors have unfunded them at the state level, and President DJT appears to be trying to do the same.

And, GOOD! Lives may be saved for a change!

“If those trucks should stop for some reason the shelves would largely be bare in less than 36 hours.”

Or outfits too cheap like Wally World to pay to run trucks on Sundays or holidays. It’s the main reason I quit going to WW - bare shelves on Monday, etc. and poorly stocked otherwise. Pointless to waste time going to a store if they’re always out of what you want.

Costco is similar: never shop at Costco on a Monday. And if you want meat, shop on Thursdays and Saturdays.

And as to your 36 hours: blizzards in my area that even briefly halt the flow of trucks VERY quickly result in empty shelves all over the place, but especially Wally World and the like ... which is why it’s wise to never let ones larders approach bareness.

“Empty shelves in many a Wally around here are a common site.”

ditto in Colorado, so I suspect it’ endemic to their business model, and it’s why I stopped shopping at WW: waste of time if it’s a crap shoot as to whether they have what you want ...

“Buy in bulk, break it down, can, dry, vacuum seal and freeze, whatever it takes to save a few bucks. Right?”

indeed. but even more important was your earlier points about better nutrition and health - which is kinda ironic when you think about it, namely that better nutrition and health can be achieved at lower cost than poor nutrition and health ...

“For what it’s worth, I went into a Whole Foods in Fairfield, CT last weekend and I did not notice any of these shortages. All the shelves were full from what I could see and I found everything I was looking for.”

the real test is to shop on Monday at Walart: if the shelves are stocked then, then there’s a different business model for Walmat in CT than here in CO.

It sure can be. This weekend we are canning chicken soup and beef stew, jerking beef, (Korean BBQ yum!), and making yogurt.

I have to admit that I shop at Whole Foods frequently, although I try to stay away from their pricier items.

I have yet to see any empty shelves at Whole Foods near me.

Haven;t seen this happen in either of the two Whole foods I shop. I have noticed BETTER prices.
