bagster, can you please re-verify your votes?

You combined 3 songs starting at:

3 1972 “American Pie” Don McLean 5 1972 “The Candy Man” Sammy Davis Jr. 1 1973 “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree” Tony Orlando and Dawn

And from then on there are 2 per line.

Please verify what your picks per pair were; I’m afraid you may change vote if you realize the songs are not paired the way you had them after American Pie.

If it’s still all good as far as the BOLD titles are concerned and you’d really pick them above their proper opponents, fine and no need to re-copy.

I think the toughest choice is American Woman vs Raindrops.

One is an anti-American rant that is also a GREAT rock song; the other is the perfect example of the sort of 1970s retreat from such angst that generated so much insipid crap. It’s a kindergarten song with nothing but sentimentality and an arrangement designed to encourage 80-year-olds to finish their unflavored oatmeal.
