until one day when the tanks have to be gassed up,...”

Old hat. Happened already during Desert Storm or therabouts. A bunch of girls were tasked with setting up the tents...and they couldn’t do it. The men had to knock off what they were doing to set up the tents.

No women in the combat arms in Desert Storm and a lot of the combat support units were closed to them as well back then.

My former barber, who got out of the Army in disgust told me that in Desert Storm they had a detachment of girls come in. Not only did the men have to put up the tents, they had to give up their own sleep to guard the girl’s tents against men. So the men lost all too much sleep and winding down time due to having women doing men’s work—which is beyond them.

My barber liked the Army though. But he didn’t want to serve in a feminized one.
