The problem with conspiracy theorists is that there are actual conspiracies. However, theorists muddy the water by claiming everything is conspiracy. If everything is conspiracy, nothing is conspiracy! Try disagreeing with one of them...you will quickly find yourself a part of the conspiracy!?! In my experience, Theorists are Gnostics who suffer from Dunning-Krueger.

The other day, I read a column by Jonah Goldberg discussing Bill Buckley’s dislike for the John Birchers. The Birchers were considered to be part of conservatism at the time, and taking up too much oxygen. Buckley did not like their conspiratorial proclivities. So how did Buckley handle it? He met with some people in a well-known watering hole and planned out their strategy on how to rid conservatism of the Birchers. In other words, they planned out a conspiracy.
