I didn’t hear Cohen this time but for the past 30 plus years he has been a Soviet disinformation purveyor. He was strongly criticized in a 1980/1983 Wash. Post article about the Soviets and missiles (Don’t have the front page of it), and in 1983, he wrote a piece about how strong the Soviet economy was in a rebuttal to Reagan’s strategy of building a strong defense program to cause the Soviet Union to collapse from defense spending they could not afford.
The article “The Soviet Union Is No Basket Case: It is strong and stable because the Kremlin keeps its promises”, Stephen F. Cohen, (is a professor of politics at Princeton Un. and writes a monthly column from which this article it taken). Wash. Post, Aug. 21, 1983, Columns section.
“The Nation” was taken over by the Communist Party USA when McCarey Williams became its’ editor in the earlier half of the 20th century. Then came Communist Party cover-upper Victor Navasky, who then worked with Cohen’s far left wife, Katrina Van Den Heuvel, who is still there today.
Also, far-left smear artists such as David Corn wrote for The Nation (he’s now at “Mother Jones”, a longtime Marxist magazine and one of those who is spreading disinformation about the Steele Dossier.
Welcome to the wonderful world of subversion and treason.
All you need to know is that he is married to Kristina Vanden Heuvel, editor of The Nation and vicious leftist.
