The President of the NRA has just been a figure head, Wayne has been executive VP as long as I can remember, and he welds all the power! Even when Charlton Heston was NRA President, was just a figure head!
Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
Hey! Whoever the Hell you are, take note:
Either learn some manners now or get lost.
You owe EEE an apology.
FWIW, I read this Vanity to learn the answers to the questions.
Thank you!
Back in the late 90s I was driving a Mercedes S500 and it was probably the only one with both an NRA sticker on the window and a bumper sticker that read, "Charlton Heston is my President" with a pix of the famous rifle in hand..."From my cold, dead, hands".
I loved that guy, but I have to admit, that during the 90s, with slick willy as the President, I made a ton of money, both in business and in the market.
So, while slick was a crooked, corrupt slime bag, he didn't get in the way of making money.
Charlton Heston spoke plenty as the NRA president.
Odds are, there is a practical reason that Wayne LaPierre is still the spokesman. Perhaps the current president is not as gifted a public speaker as LaPierre. You want to put your best foot forward. Charlton Heston was a brilliant NRA spokesman and when he was President he was simply the best “voice” they had.
I think they are just going with their best speaker. The president is not always the best speaker.
You didn’t make money because Bill Clinton was president. You made money because the Gingrich Congress during the 1990s dragged Bill Clinton into staying out of the way of the economy. It was the GOP Congress, not the commie president who freed the economy during the 1990s.
If he could have, Clinton would have raised taxes, passed Hilarycare, expanded welfare and other social spending, and spent wastefully. Congress wouldn’t let him.
Nah, I made money because I was a great salesman, with the good fortune to be with a terrific company, with the right product and services at the right time, with wonderful bonuses and comm rates, with excellent company backup services and the drive to work 70-100 hours per week {when required because of opportunity}.
Those kind of chances only come a few times during an entire 40+ year career and I was very fortunate to react correctly.
Earlier in my career, I had a couple of similar chances, but was too stoned to realize or act on them. My bad.
Congrats about your good fortune
LOL Re: stoned
Its not the health aspects of partying that need be emphasized, its the amount of TIME it consumes.
A question that any member of the NRA would have known and a set up for why aren’t/isn’t the NRA doing enough and doing it when we want to.
I was just removing “assumed authority” from someone I believe to be a troll on a set up mission.
If I still did not believe this I would apologize.
Don’t hold your breath.
And I will return a question. What did I say that was not true.
Do you ask permission to utilize your 2A rights to please those who object to them?
I simply did not think his question warranted your abrasive response. Extremely Extreme Extremist has been here for a long time, far longer than you have. Try to keep your tone civil in discussions.
It was a question on his part. You could have made your point without that tone.
Things get heated enough in here, and for good reason sometimes. It doesn’t do any of us any good to take this tone with our fellow Freepers.
“Extremely Extreme Extremist has been here for a long time, far longer than you have.”
Really, I was on this board in the first week or two of its existence. So, the above statement is an out right lie. “Far longer” is an impossibility.
Try again but please refrain from making up your own facts and confine yourself to telling the truth for a change. You made that one way to easy.
Sorry. If you are a retread on FR, that is your business. I am sure you have your reasons.
Your response was both uncalled for and irrational.
And I can see from reading responses here that I am far from the only one who thinks you were being rude.
HUH? Lighten up, Francis!
EEE was asking a simple and understandable question. I remember when Charleton Heston was President of the NRA, I believe it’s a mostly ceremonial position.
I’ve been an NRA member long enough to remember the Neal Knox battles.
Maybe tone it down a little?
Mark
I am sorry, I did not mean to disparage you personally. I’ve seen too many people give Bill Clinton credit for the good economic climate of the era, when it was the GOP Congress that created the economic climate of growth and opportunity.
