I believe it was Perkins-Elmer who did the mirror, and they had an exemplary record of grinding mirrors.

Thanks for sorting that out! The metric error was on a Mars mission. I'd forgotten about the shim and conflated the two spacecraft -- in my 80+ year-old memory... '-)

Maybe the Hubble correction was via the secondary mirror mount. Now, I'll have to go look it up...

The Hubble telescope proves out Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God” by discovering beauties never before seen by man.

Hubble is being replaced by the James Webb telescope.

My son is about to graduate as an aerospace engineer. Several of his friends are working on the Webb project.

Absolutely. Given my son’s burgeoning space career, my wife has been developing an interest in astronomy and we’ve always believed in young earth creationism.

(One of my other kid’s started CDL training today. Now I need to get her to understand the difference between a Kenworth and a Peterbilt)

We even had the opportunity to host an eclipse party for 200 people.

That stuff is always interesting.
