Leading PA Official Exposed for Repeated Incitement to Terror

On Thursday, the Israeli non-governmental organization (NGO) Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) and members of three families whose loved ones were murdered following Jibril Rajoub’s incitement to murder in 2015 and 2016, submitted a formal complaint to the Israeli police against Rajoub.

The following statement was issued by the organization, on Friday: “PMW is taking this unusual step because we believe this is an urgent time for the Israeli government to take action. Neither Rajoub nor the other Palestinian leaders who incited hate and terror which drove the 2015 – 2016 terror wave in which 44 people were murdered, have been arrested or imprisoned for their crimes. As a result, many of the same PA and Fatah leaders are now inciting hate and violence in response to both the original decision of President of the United States to move the American embassy to Jerusalem and the subsequent American announcement that it is opening on May 14.

There is a real danger that Israel’s inaction against Palestinian leaders’ previous incitement to murder will lead them to conclude that they can again incite murder with impunity, this time over the Jerusalem Embassy opening on May 14, 2018, which could lead to another terror wave.

Palestinian leaders must understand that if they incite violence, terror, and murder they will be arrested and imprisoned. This step is fundamental to ensure the deterrence that could very well save lives.”

Unfortunately, inciteful rhetoric is not the only form of incitement that the PA uses against Israel. For years, the PA has paid convicted terrorists and the families of terrorists monthly stipends. Yes, you read that right. When an Arab terrorist kills an Israeli and is sent to an Israeli prison, he is paid a monthly stipend by the PA. If the Arab dies, then his family is paid by the PA.

The money that is paid to these terrorists is not a small token payment, but rather the amount of an above average monthly salary. To put things in perspective, according to a 2017 article in Ynet News titled “The most worthwhile job in the PA is to murder a Jew”, a teacher in the PA makes NIS 900 ($250) a month, while a laborer makes NIS 1,500 ($415) a month and an Arab terrorist living in Judea and Samaria who murdered a Jew and was sentenced to life in prison gets a monthly salary of NIS 12,000 ($3,300) from the PA. When that murderer is released in some (prisoner swap) deal, he gets a pension similar to that of a major general in the military for the rest of his life. A 15-year-old terrorist will get a general’s pension because he murdered a Jew. Last year, the PA paid approximately 3.5 million US dollars to terrorists and their families. Recent reports have surfaced that indicate that in 2018, the PA will allocate approximately 403 million US dollars to the “terrorist fund”. Much of the money used to pay these terrorists comes from taxpayers of foreign governments, and international organizations such as the European Union.

Government officials in Israel, Denmark, and the United States (via the Taylor Force Act) have either passed legislation, created anti-incitement measures or have been pushing for legislation that would cut funding to the PA until it stops paying terrorists and their families.

In a speech that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s annual policy conference in Washington DC this past week, he said, “to get peace President Abbas has to embrace peace and to stop supporting terror. Raise your hands high if you agree with me that President Abbas should stop paying terrorists who murder Jews. You know how much he pays? He pays about $350 million dollars a year to terrorists and their families, each year. [….] I have a message for President Abbas: Stop paying terrorists. Because what message does this send to Palestinian children? It says murder Jews and get rich. And I believe President Abbas should find better use for this money—to build roads, schools, hospitals, factories. Build life, don’t pay death. Invest in life. Invest in peace.”

Already this morning I have seen a headline with VA that did not mean Virginia and one with PA that did not mean Pennsylvania. Not that the headline is wrong but it makes me yearn for some clarification in the headline.
