Or daddy threatened them to keep his big ego name
One of my daughters proposed keeping hers to honor me
I gently reminded her to honor her husband and soon to be children
I did ask her if she wished she should incorporate our family name into the kids
Which is what wifey and I did

A lot of the women do it to show independence from and contempt of their insignificant others.
Misdirection is always odd...
