Probably the same way one of the YouTuber Flatheads “explain” things — by shouting “it’s FAKE! Look how FAKE! It’s so FAKE!” :^)

These days, ham moonbounce stations typically use a digital radio transmission mode called JT65 which permits digging weak signals out of the background noise.

Ah hah. This has to be key, in my uneducated opinion. Your aim has to be precise, and your beam has to be tight, and your tracking has to be smooth, otherwise your angles change almost immediately, no? But what is more, I imagined that you had to almost have a programmed movement to keep the bounce back precises, like billiards. However, I am guessing now that you are getting a lot of scatter on the reflection, and that’s not a liability. That actually solves the problem of needing a precise programed vector change. Instead, you get a wide propagation off the bound and rely on the receiver to do the hard work of pulling it out of the field.

“Those guys had nerves of steel. If that had been me on the moon I would have stayed WAY close to the lunar module”

“The right stuff” is not a myth, and those guys had it in spades.

Another key factor is that there are a number of extremely-well-equipped amateur stations around the world that have very large antennas and high transmit power and state-of-the art, low-noise reception capabilities, so that if one side of the Earth-Moon-Earth communications link is well above the minimum threshold required for communication, then lots of less-well-equipped stations on the other side of the path can work in tandem with them to get the job done.

If you do a google search using both of the terms 'eme' and 'moon' you will find a wealth of information about how it's done.

This is just the tip of the flat earth iceberg on FreeRepublic. These people are mentally ill and need to be removed from the forum. Failing that, they need to get on board with the next Heavens-Gate style cult and “join the away team” to rid us of their presence.
