It surely looks like the solar minimum has arrived, and it has done so far earlier than expected! On Sunday NOAA posted its monthly update of the solar cycle, covering sunspot activity for March 2018...the least active month for sunspots since the middle of 2009, almost nine years ago. In fact, activity in the past few months has been so low it matches the low activity seen in late 2007 and early 2008, ten years ago when the last solar minimum began.

Sorry to have to break this to you, but it's much more complex than that. There will need to be Billion$ in federal grants to find the correct dot diameters, spacing between dots, grouping clusters of dots, involving lots of academic studies, and tons of model runs. Studies will have to be performed to compare and differentiate between dots and spots. It will then cost a few Trillion$ in tax dollars to buy the photoshops, and perform the photoshopping, and then rocketing lots of those dots and spots to the Sun.
Timothy Pattersen a Canadian scientist was charged by the conservative government at the time to determine why there was a decline in fish production. What he discovered by checking the ocean sediment along the Canadian west coast was that during high solar activity fish dramatically increased because of the increased solar output. The decreased sunspot activity is going to overpower the AGW folks in due time. When they can no longer hold on to their AGW theories do they switch to Man Caused Sunspot Decline? Some clever ‘scientist” could probably publish a treatise on just that and “prove” his case with pages and pages of Greek looking symbols and numbers.If it is necessary to spend trillions to stop AGW it will require quadrillions to stop ASD (Anthropomorphic Sunspot Decline) and require an IMMEDIATE reduction of the human population by 80%.
Tax the sun spot gods who cause such.

Who do they have working at NOAA and NASA now? They clearly don’t understand even basic astrophysics. Here’s a clue: the center of mass of the Sun and the solar system are closely aligned largely due the position of Jupiter (and Saturn although that has a lesser effect). The result is less tidal forces inside the sun, which leads to a solar minimum. It’s a well recorded and understood phenomena. I’ve been posting about it for literally years.
Stop looking at the dang thing. Then the missing spots won’t cause the spontaneous proliferation of taxpayer-funded studies and the consequent birth of govt bureaucracies to punish us all for whatever the “problem” is - like solar cycles.
Luckily, I live in Florida. All I'll need is a snow shovel.
