And that, Voption, is political thought based upon life experience. Personality doesn't enter into it. Temperament will not override.
Repeating that those things are more important that experiences doesn't make it so. No matter how flowery a resume the speaker or writer may have.
The piece is an intellectual failure at the very most fundamental level and it suffers a critical collapse before it even gets past its title.
Respectfully, I’m unclear on your criticism of Peterson.
Personally, I’m trained in (Skinnerian) behavior-analysis with a Cognitive bent, and the Jungian, Piagetian, and Freudian stuff was always way too non-functionally defined for my tastes.
Peterson however, is brilliant in drawing me into the archetypes & meta-reality, and our species-specific stories & neurobiology, are literally as old-as-dirt and embedded into our nervous-system’s in an incredible cybernetic dance.
The “environment” controls you, but you as well, control the environment. (Never be a Victim, ever. Life is Tragedy & Malevolence. Tragedy is utterly random, malevolence is preventable, or at least minimizable.)
“Personality Traits” however, are fairly standard in the psych-biz, in that there are, functionally defined (measurable) Personality Dimensions and associated defining Traits that always cluster, across culture & time, with repeated measurement.
Do those dimensions & traits, seal one’s Fate? I don’t think so.(and they are very fuzzy on the margin’s, but immensely informative in predictive ability across populations.) And while I am largely a Determinist, I’m also incredibly acutely aware of the vast fuzziness of Reality, at the Quantum level.(at which level I hope will eventually lead to our understanding of the physical constructs & substrates of consciousness in humans.)
I’m willing to engage, but I just don’t know what your beef is with Peterson.
When is the last time anyone here, ever heard a clinical psychologist, stand up and rationally explain, in intricate detail, quite a bit of the exact stuff, a lot of us here, all believe and/or know intuitively, deep inside our heads?
That’s like’ Never.
