I see this as more of an intrinsic issue with Special Prosecutors. They have a way of snowballing on their own, because there is no practical oversight of them and they stumble on like a headless corpse. They pick up political baggage and steam, and nobody wants to get in their way for political and public relations reasons. I think the concept of “Special Prosecutors” should be radically altered and reined in before another one is ever started and used.
This isn’t to say Sessions made a huge blunder by recusing himself, everyone agrees on that. A leftist would have never made that naive mistake, and that says as much about our side as it does about theirs.
