Soros's view of "Open Society" is at radical odds with Popper's. In Popper's The Open Society And Its Enemies one of the principal enemies is Karl Marx.

The damage Soros has caused by the advancement of uncontrolled migration wouldn't have happened had his ideas not fallen on sympathetic ears within the EU ruling elite. Their view of "open society" is a Europe without nations, whose people's political identity is toward Europe rather than any of its constituent parts. Marx thought nations could be overcome if that political identity was redirected toward economic class. Both approaches promise peace in the absence of nations; both create an awful mess first.
