I actually went and looked at their job board. There were a couple of positions I could do except my training is in a related field. I’ve done a lot of statistical analysis, know how to use the statistics software and have critiqued academic papers for statistical errors, but; my training is as a Technical Services/Cataloging Librarian. Also, I wonder if they’d hire an arthritic 58-year-old who limps?
Sounds like you’d be perfect for optimizing train loads and routes — or at least running the programs that do that. That sort of operations research for railroads was the hottest field of its day 130 years ago. “Efficient frontier” and all related things.
I wonder if a very interested nearly 47 yr old burned out IT guy with a TV and mechanical background would be of much interest?
