When a firm like this moves jobs 1,000s of miles away, their intent is for people not to move. They won’t say it, but they hope to clean house.
Hope to clean house?
Half to 3/4 of that thousand jobs are low level but well paid clerks, secretaries, assistants. They wont be offered a job in Nashville. These positions can be filled in Nashville at close to half the salaries & benefits, plus the company avoids the relocation costs.
I imagine that by any measure - taxes, payroll costs, buildings & maintenance, regulations - the move to TN & similar places from NY is becoming increasingly financially irresistible. The NE states & the West Coast are in serious trouble.
