I will be discussing the alarming escalation of aircraft incidents currently in the news.
While the United States copes with many threats in the world today, what I am about to report is by far a chilling development. China has actually fired military-grade lasers targeting U.S. aircraft flying near a U.S. military base in Africa.
Sarah Sanders told reporters the following: There will be near-term and long-term consequences.
This is not the only instance in which Beijing has targeted U.S. aircraft flying over the east African country of Djibouti.
According to U.S. defense officials, the lasers were fired from the Chinese military base in Doraleh on at least three occasions, resulting in eye injuries for two American pilots.

And yet there are Freepers who still defend the stupid free trade deals that are helping the Chinese to pay for this.
My son flies P-3s for the Navy. He told me he has been lasered a couple of times. He tried to describe it to me, and I didn't completely understand. It sounds really disorienting.
He said he has a device he can wear to minimize any laser effect or possible injury, but wearing it for any length of time gives him something like a migraine headache.
I told hom his million dollar career idea for his retirement is to invent one that doesn't give people a headache.
My Brother-in-Law flew Neptunes during the Cuban missile crises.
He said they were shadowing a Russian ship from about 200 yards when it turned on it’s anti-aircraft defense. He said it was a tense moment but it never fired.
Put a drone overhead. When 1 of our C-130s gets laser send a Hellfire the other way.
Beautiful airplane, the P-3. Makes me think of the old Electra II airliner.
The Lord keep You All safe.
It is an act of war. Treat it accordingly.
It would be prudent to block all wavelengths once light is detected above a safe level. I imaging that is exactly what they do.

Thanks davikkm.
“It would be prudent to block all wavelengths once light is detected above a safe level. I imaging that is exactly what they do.”
That would involve a very fast sort of active filter (or maybe just an intervening camera display), which would be nice. And you might want to activate auto-pilot at that point!
Biological damage from light or even X-rays is proportional to the exposure time. A polarized filter can and will react very quickly to dangerous levels of light. Consider the electronic welding helmets. One can strike an arc while looking directly at the strike; however, the mask goes dark so fast that there is no after image experienced by the welder. The technology exists today.
This top of thing is different than the standard Cold War brinksmanship that used to take place.
If the Chinese are too stupid to understand that, the world is going to be more dangerous than people think.
Or just like a modern welding helmet.
