You might be interested in this short video by Bill Whittle called:

The Power and Danger of Iconography"

It is eight minutes, but one of the best descriptions of how powerful iconography is in politics...and of course, delivered in the inimitable style of Bill Whittle.

And Chickensoup is correct in his posting...I have been corrected and since become a convert.

I don't call them liberals or progressives any more (except for the ones I refer to as "The Good Hearted Liberals" who I view more often as misguided or uninformed than I do leftists. Once they become strong, active and partisan adherents of Leftist dogma, they stop being "Good Hearted Liberals" and become "Stone Cold Leftists"...)

______________

I used to do this, especially in the social services realm. Ultimately I have found that these people are guided by a self-interest that over arches every other issue. (example: local religious resettlement organizations went looking all over the united states for Somalis to resettle in our state, thus justifying the organizations and their salaries)

Racially obsessed liberals who are wealthy, live in New York and Boston, and have excessive influence over US Government policy in Washington DC? I think this has been going on since the 1850s. Same sh*t, Different Centuries.
