On Tuesday, I wrote about the spike in homelessness on the West Coast and the insurmountable problem politicians face in tackling this troubling issue. There is no clear cut solution, but something needs to be done. California has an astonishing 24 percent of the countrys homeless population. More than 10 cities and counties along the West Coast have declared states of emergency due to the rise of homelessness. Seattle, Washington was one of them.
The socialists on Seattles City Council passed a head tax on big companies like Amazon and Starbucks to address the homeless crisis.
By Legacy Research
The unanimously passed legislation calls for a $275 per employee tax each year on for-profit companies that gross at least $20 million a year in Seattle, down from the initially proposed $500 per-head tax. On Monday, the council taxed the citys largest employers even more to combat homelessness which prompted a state of emergency in late 2015. A tally last year counted more than 11,600 homeless people in King County alone.

Wonderful. Starbucks and Amazon. Aren’t they neet?
The law of “Unintended Consequences” will propel Seattle further into becoming THE global home refugees.
The three of them deserve each other.
Even if the new tax money can care for 11,600 homeless in the county, what happens to the 11,601? And the many more who will follow?
I applaud this. Let the libs tax themselves to death, people will vote with their feet.
Wonder how many Socialists are running Amazon? Funny thing about rich liberal socialists — they really don’t like it when it impacts them negatively. They are a hypocrites.
Maybe Google, apple and FaceBook can use all their luxury coaches to move all the San Francisco homeless up to Seattle.
Now you know why Amazon was looking for a second home..................
Even at $275, it’s still bad.
It is insane to tax people who ARE WORKING to pay those who DON’T WORK! You will get more people who don’t work! You will have fewer people willing to go to work to pay this idiot tax!
But this is the left. They don’t have a mind. All they have is a swirling mass of self-contradictory undifferentiated neurons firing on and off.
Ha! They will be run like a public utility... then forget it
Robots will solve this head tax for now.
Tell people that if you elect the democRATS, you will get all the free crap you need to live comfortably, who do you think they are going to attract?
The answer is, all of the drug-addled, mentally-ill, bottom feeders of the country.
democRATS, you want people who you fit your voter profiles and who expect taxpayers monies for doing nothing, then you've done a great job.
Now that you've made your bed with these people, you can lie with them and take care of them.
I hope your states and cities are overwhelmed by your generosity for those who do nothing productive in America.
DO NOT INTERRUPT YOUR ENEMY IN THE MIDDLE OF A MISTAKE!!!
Seattle's government model is unsustainable. When they go bankrupt, and the city council members are dangling from lamp posts, THEN we can use them as an object lesson in the resultant of Leftist Stupid.
Just like San Francisco is a magnet for gays...
Seattle is becoming a magnet for the homeless.
That only serves to help other states and cities get cleansed. Seattle is performing a great service, but not for the city or for “their” homeless. Seattle will also be helping other states and cities who will become a lot more attractive for businesses that don’t like to be taxed for purposes they don’t approve of.
But, like we all know, it’s not businesses that are being taxed, it’s the customers of those businesses that ultimately end up paying those taxes via higher prices for products and services that those companies will impose to pay for those higher taxes.
“This City continues to spend without reforming and fail without accountability, while ignoring the plight of hundreds of children sleeping outside.”
So the solution here is more money for the city.
What few Boing employees that are left will be soon moving to Chicago and/or South Carolina. I lived in South Carolina so I hope they move to Chicago.
