I’m going to assume that The New Yorker thinks this is a bad thing.

Trump is equal parts Reagan and Truman, with a dash of Andrew Jackson.

In some way yes, in some ways no.

Rather then try and compare him to anyone, just have to realize Trump is his own special type of President unlike anything that has come before.

Donald Trump is The Echo of our Framers' President, the embodiment of the Framers’ ideal president; he is the outcome of a process that sought men of character and accomplishment for our nation’s highest office.

It’s a mealy-mouthed story, but at least it does not say that Trump is very similar to Hitler.

No. Reagan was hated by some parts of the GOP, and had to work hard to bring it together (Saddling us with the Bush family at the top of the ticket); Trump has parts of the GOP actively trying to ruin him and/or remove him from office, and the rest of it saying nothing. He’s on his own. Reagan at least had some party support.

Just remember...for all the good he did, Reagan also gave us FOPA and amnesty for millions of illegal aliens.

Trump is Trump.
He cuts his own path.
The path back to the Constitution after the Kenyanesian Usurpation and the attempted coup is rocky and difficult.
He is having to battle the Ministry of Propaganda, the Democrats, the Bush League Republicans, most of the federal government, including the FBI, CIA, NSA, etc., on top of dealing with the rest of the world.
If he restores the rule of law, he may surpass all but Washington.

If he’s around at the end of 2024...I don’t think you can make any comparison to Reagan, or any previous President.

I think the North Korea problem will be finalized, and the US troops removed from North Korea. I think most of US troops will be removed from Germany, and repositioned in Poland and the UK. I think that a major effort to build a UK relationship (with May having moved on) will occur after BREXIT. I think that the SK/NK relationship will be a major factor. I think that by the end of 2019...Trump will be a factor in Venezuela, by helping to remake the government there. I also think that Iran will be forced into a corner, with some type of banking failure, with a coup of some type....with the US building on a new relationship there.

The surface hasn’t even been scratched yet.

Maybe Reagan was the first coming of Trump.

He hasn’t outright fired 11,000+ government union workers (air traffic controllers) and he hasn’t let the budget run out, stopping the government for weeks.

He hasn’t developed a major type of beneficial treaty (START) or had years of economic prosperity or reduced interest rates by many points under great economic conditions (as opposed to poor conditions leading to lower rates).

He hasn’t been able to get a great competitor to “tear down their wall.”

Donald Trump is a great president, but Ronald Reagan had incredible actions during his years, despite a Democrat-controlled Congress.

Trump is a comparatively unaccomplished president, at this early time.

Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump are the two bookends encasing a some of bad presidents and bad decisions.

Ronald started the good stuff and Donald will finish it.

Trump is not the second coming of Reagan.
He might be better described as the second coming of Truman.
