I have no comment other than I wish my teachers were young 26 year old babes instead of the 60 year old hags I had.

As for the article, it offers very little scientific observations but rather keeps pointing towards moralistic shortcoming as judged by the author rather than a physiological or psychological basis for behavior.

The article and the alleged study are nonsense. But i guess thats what you get when you go to sites like “Activist Mommy” for news and current events.

Exactly!

“As for the men looking back and remembering how willing they’d have been, they should ponder Edna St. Vincent Millay’s line, ‘Pity me that the heart is slow to learn What the swift mind beholds at every turn.’ However one feels emotionally, a mature intellect intervenes and understands that the ‘heart is deceitful above all things.'”

Yeah, most hot-blooded teenage boys look to Edna St. Vincent Millay when faced with a moral dilemma!

Edna St. Vincent Millay's line completely lacks relevance to the supposed scenario: Even a swift mind does not see any unacceptable drawback for the boy - at least in comparison with the obvious bennies for a boy in his late teens of being seduced by an attractive teacher in her mid-20s. Any (long-term, subsequent) disadvantages are outweighed by the (immediate) advantages. Sure, it's tawdry, but the age difference is not a "knock-out criterion." The woman is demonstrating that she is emotionally immature - but so what? If it weren't for the social disapproval and legal sanctions, the woman could not be described as "reckless." She is not manifesting any "crazy" behavior - only callowness.

Being exploited by a worn-out, burnt-out teacher nearing menopause (possibly divorced, possibly with teenage children of her own), however, begins to look like real predation, like real sickness.

Regards,

Perhaps that is because the difference between a civilized adult and a self-serving individual has more to do with morality then science.

These teachers are paid to teach, not satisfy their lusts. Fornication is a destructive foundation for a successful family life later on. Nor is it scientific.
