Whoever prepped this cake is no doubt a product of our wonderful public school system. Though I miss the Shop Rites in NY, the local Publix bakery and deli has very good stuff. I wonder how they would've reacted if Jacob's last name is LIPSCHITZ? And we all know the sh!tstorm that would go down if the store refused to put any LGBTwhatever affirming message on the cake.

Publix
How do you pronounce that anyway? I think it’s obscene.

Publix is a decent store as a rule, but the local store’s bakery has screwed up every cake we ordered from them. We don’t order there anymore.

Their heart is in the right place. Too bad their brains arent as big as the heart.
Further, why is it OK for them to refuse to use a word for their client, but not OK to refuse making a cake at all for another kind of person?

I had a similar experience at Publix. The Publix bakery staff has been told to never put words on a cake that are protected by a trademark or copyright. The problem is that the Publix staff has no idea which words fall into that category.
When one of my daughters graduated from high school, she had decided to attend Columbia University. So, I wanted “On to Columbia” on her cake. There is no trademark or copyright on the word “Columbia”. It’s in the public domain. All kinds of things use the word “Columbia” in their name. But, there was no one among the bakery staff who had the intelligence to understand that. I realized that there was no way the Publix high school dropouts would ever understand that. So, I dropped the request.

Just consider this an erratum.
