This is always the way the Monarchy tries to quell the anger of the Mob.
Works until the money runs out then the Mob offs the Monarchy and chaos ensues.
Rinse, Repeat.
The problem here in the NYC metro area is that the taxpayers “vote with their feet” and leave municipalities where their hard-earned dollars are squandered by voting non-taxpayers - and the government promptly allots their new municipality a share of non-taxpayers to provide for. I’ve used the example of the Quartering Act for comparison; instead of being forced to house and feed British soldiers, we’re forced to house, feed, clothe, school, and provide Obamaphones for non-contributors.
