Trump is right about the War of 1812.In late May, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had a crotchety phone argument about trade with President Donald Trump. As CNN reports, Trudeau objected to the idea that Canada was a “national security” problem (the legal justification for the tariffs Trump was introducing). Trump responded, “Didn’t you guys burn down the White House?” Trump was referring to the famous burning of Washington conducted during the War of 1812. (The event actually took place in 1814).
Pedants immediately jumped in to accuse Trump of an error. After all, wasn’t the torching of the White House conducted by British troops, under the command of Admiral George Cockburn?(continued)

To us ex-canadians, canadian schools brag about this “history” in every grade level, ( as an FU to America because canadian kids have an inferiority complex). If we know about it, then American leftards pretend it didnt happen?

They also Burned down Buffalo, and as a result the Sabres and Bills are still suffering.

As for this comment, I think it’s funny how Canadians get all unctious about so-called War of 1812 (really should be the British War) as being Americans invading THEIR country.
They were not a country; they were colonies. Under the thumb of Britain (and still largely beholden to them). It was BRITAIN we were attacking and how else were we going to do it? Go over the sea with a couple ships and attack? Better to start near home.
Iirc history and military history were two subjects that Donald J Trump excelled in at the NYMA. He was a good student and served in the highest positions of the school his senior year. (One elected by the faculty the other by his fellow cadets. )
We have fought six wars with Canada—more than we have with any other country. However, in four of them (the War of the League of Augsburg, the War of the Spanish Succession, the War of the Austrian Succession, and the Third Silesian War) we were English and they were French.
What came first ...the burning of the WH by the Canadians or the burning of my widowed 4th GGM’s house in St David, Ontario by the Americans...
BTW the American officer who went through Ontario burning private homes etc was fired...

And again, Canadians were not “Canadians”. They were Canadian-British, or British subjects. Exactly as “American” colonists had been just 40 years prior, American-British.
