On the contrary, I think the most effective weapon should a revolutionary struggle break out in the US will be concealable pistols, or even knives, and the killing will be personal, conducted by men willing to die.

Because the war will not be fought against security forces directly - or perhaps only in the later stages.

It will be fought against civilian supporters of the government, government officials, functionaries, employees, partisans, media operatives and technicians, and indeed in the extremities of brutality, probably their families. Effectively a war of assassination entirely separate from any war conducted by men, or robots, in uniform.

The technologies of war and security will be irrelevant. No robots will be able to keep the entire population an unpopular tyranny will need to protect safe against the ubiquitous threat of their neighbors. No system of secure compounds will keep tens of millions safe.

I tend to agree with you. These new technologies are fine for straight up military conflicts. Urban warfare not so much.

500 drones under control. Give them infrared human seeking equipment and a small explosive charge, and you have 500 dead people.

Someone has went further with this idea and made a very professional quality video.
