They’d be taking water from the PACIFIC? That, plus increased water usage until the level of the Pacific dropped to the point people in Hawaii could DRIVE from one island to another. And what about the sea birds who wouldn’t have the waters to land on in order to rest?
I’m sure the Sierra Club will protest this.

Guess they never heard of desalinization.

Here in San Diego, we have the USA's largest desalination plant, producing 50 million gallons per day. We are trying to build another one at Camp Pendleton that produces 100-150 million gallons per day. Desalination is cheaper than importing water. Unfortunately, we have enviro-wacko kooks like "the Surfrider Foundation" and "San Diego Coastkeeper" that perpetually tie these projects up in court and drive the costs much higher than they should be.
