Gov. Rick Scott is virtually tied with Sen. Bill Nelson among Florida voters, but the Republican is dominating the Democrat by 9 points among those nearing or at retirement age a group that casts the majority of Floridas votes.
The results, drawn from a forthcoming POLITICO/AARP poll delving into the policy views of Florida voters aged 50 and older, exposes a political divide that bodes relatively well for Republicans when compared to some nationwide polling that shows a more-favorable environment for Democrats.
Overall, voters in the nations largest swing state are almost evenly split when it comes to opinions of President Trumps job performance, with 48 percent approving and 49 percent disapproving. But Trumps job approval rises to 52 percent and his disapproval falls to 44 percent among voters older than 50 a crucial demographic in the retiree-heavy state because they have historically cast about two-thirds of all the ballots in midterm elections.
Similarly, Scott leads Nelson overall by 40 percent to 39 percent, but Scotts support grows to 44 percent while Nelsons shrinks to 35 percent with those 50 and older.

Took this poll
We’ll eventually move to FL. I prefer Texas but the gun laws are as lenient in FL, correct?
More lenient than most states.
No state, city or county Income Taxes in FL.
Fairly low property taxes as well...............
The Scott ads here in Florida are fairly low key, but effective, basically stating that Nelson has been around a long time and accomplished nothing but vote the Dem line. The ads are not vitriolic or bombastic just stating facts.
Scott during his term as governor has been hit with all the negative crap the Dems can throw at him. He’s still riding tall.
Aside from Dade County, what other places should I avoid? ;)
Scott might be an improvement over Nelson, but he will be as disappointing as Rubio.

I agree with your assessment. Some R’s are better than other R’s. Some R’s are as bad as some D’s.
I was really disappointed about the large amount of pandering that Rick Scott has been doing. (He’s got pander-monia). Panders to Puerto Rico interests, panders to the gun-grabbers, sure I am missing several others.
Anyway,it will be nice if he can free us from the useless double-talking, do-nothing, good ole boy Bill Nelson.
Hey - I think I have a slogan to use for Bill Nelson - “Useless, Helpless, Worthless - But then we already know that.”
Tampa, St. Petersburg, Broward County, Palm Beach County, Orlando/Orange County, Tallahassee, Alachua County/Gainesville..........Liberal bastions............
Thanks! What’s the place at the very bottom with a dot?
That’s Monroe County which includes The Keys. The disconnected ‘dot’ is The Dry Tortugas island(s) which are not inhabited and are a federal wildlife sanctuary, no people allowed..........
Still here pushing your DNC propaganda garbage I see.
Oh, it’s the Keys? My GF always wanted to go there. Thanks. :)
You can drive to Key West................
I’d rather vote for Scott! I’m not sure if he’s the conservative we’ve been looking for or if he’s Little Marco lite. Nonetheless, I’ll vote for Scott!
Thanks, RB! I’m surprised St. Pete voted for Trump.
His biggest contribution was steeping up to run. Too many ex-Gov’s won’t do that when they’re the top tier candidate. No fight in them.
Me too.....................
Here are the county-by-county results:

If Scott wins the Republican Primary, I’ll hold my nose and vote for him.
BUT I am hoping another candidate materializes!
FRantically searching for A REAL AMERICAN who believes in AMERICA FIRST!
I love it. I love it. I love it.
#1 on my wish list is McCaskill.
my #2 is dumb as box of hair, Nelson.
Nelson doesn’t do crap... it’s time for him to retire and enjoy the sunshine.
