It’s worth noting that Coast Guardsman Cullen was unarmed. He’s lucky the four Germans didn’t kill him..............................They even offered him money. They continued on their mission of using the Nazi money for whiskey, clothes and women, not necessarily in that order. Apparently they wanted to give themselves up, but Hoover needed some attention, AGAIN. I wonder if they would have been treated differently if they were sent as NKVD spies and saboteurs?

I guess that would have depended on whether of not the NKVD had photos of Hoover in an evening dress. (I’ve read that the Mafia had such photos, and that’s why Hoover went easy on them.)
