Rob Reiner, a director and longtime advocate for liberal Democratic causes in Hollywood, ripped into Robert De Niro for his “F— Trump” outburst at last Sunday’s Tony Awards, calling the foul-mouthed speech counterproductive.
“If you have any interest in trying to preserve the democracy, and put it in the hands of somebody who understands government, who isn’t self-dealing, who cares about this country and the people in this country, then you’re helping Trump,” Reiner said in an interview earlier this week on The Hill’s “Rising” TV show with co-hosts Krystal Ball and Buck Sexton.
“You’re helping Trump by saying ‘F— Trump’ because he can say, ‘Look at these people, these elitists,'” added Reiner, who defended De Niro’s right to share his opinion even as he found it tactically a mistake....

Meathead and the rest of Hollywood don’t understand how all their outrage help’s Trump because they live in the liberal sound bubble of La La Land and are totally unaware of the pulse of the rest of America.
Yes, Blarny Miller and Barney Fife speak. I liked the characters they both played in “Those Were The Days” and “The Godfather/Raging Bull” but they’ve had their days and now it’s off to the old-aged home for mentally deranged actors/producers.
Hal Linden and the late Don Knotts (a WW 2 veteran), didn’t go off their rockers over politics. That is worth a shout-out by itself.

So, since Reiner does not wish to be “helping Trump”, can we presume that he doesn’t have any interest in those admirable things?
Heard an interview w his dad Carl, who said when he was young he took a Works Progress Administration course on acting. He was glad the government could provide such a program and wanted to support big government programs.
