Another fine animal killed because some a$$holes need to hike.
Darn it! I meant casull not Cadillac! It was some decades ago. He was hunting with dogs in Arizona. I believe he did finally get the black bear after putting a box of 38s in his head and chest. The 454 casull was definitive for future bear hunts!
I wonder how many of these survivors shat themselves.

We should all be confined to the cities, so our masters, who know how to get along with the cuddly bears, can enjoy themselves without our interference./S
We have plenty of bears. They intrude on our turf at their peril. They threaten humans, they die.
It is all our turf.
If the radical environmentalists have their way, the forests will be off-limits to humans. You aren't part of that crowd, are you?
Personally, it doesn't bother me one bit that an aggressive predator was put down. There are plenty of grizzly bears remaining in Wyoming.
Man has the right to be in the woods too.

Where they won’t let you live if the Wildlands Project and Agenda 21 people have their way...
A conservative here. HOWEVER, the oceans are our turf too, yet we are scouring the oceans of fish. African wildlife is our turf too, yet were are decimating such wildlife. I understand the human-animal hierarchy, but stewardship of God’s creature involves forethought as well. Ppl tend to eff things up far too often. It will be years before this bear is replaced. There are not that many that we can waive it off as no big deal.
Seriously? Oh well, the leftist fedgov agrees with you, as does the UN. People don't belong in the forest, they belong in downtown highrise apartments next to bus and light rail lines. It's called Agenda 21. But they can KMA.
I’m sure alot of liberals woyuld have sacrificed themselves in this situation.
But being unarmed and afraid of guns they would not have a choice.
In the old days stupid people didnt live long enough to breed. Unfortunately our modern world shelters from perils many stupid people and they breed.
He waited WAY, WAY TOO LONG to fire...
A dozen feet from an angry grizzly is way, way, too close.

“With the pull of my finger, he said, I just killed three bears.
Well, it’s a start.
” Handguns have stopped bear attacks 97% of the time in the cases that have been documented.”
That’s because failures result in the shooter being digested, leading to a lack of documentation. Handguns aren’t 97% effective against humans, let alone grizzlies.
Your statement if so full it, it is just nonsense.
Old wife’s tales are hard to kill and your statement promoting one that handguns are not effective.
Here is a link so you can study some use of handguns in defense against bear.

If you don agree please post documented cases to back up you statement.
I am always interested in bear attack stories.
Perhaps you should trade your .45 in on a .46?
Handguns arent 97% effective against humans, let alone grizzlies.
That is because in the vast majority of cases, a handgun does not have to be fired to be effective against a human.
The human sees the handgun, understands the threat, and runs away. In most defensive gun uses, the gun a human is not shot. It is hard to get a good estimate of things that are not generally reported, but it is probably well over 90% of DGU cases where no one is shot.
If Nature's God hadn't stopped that bear, he probably would have been 'road kill,' big-bore revolver not withstanding...
