(THE LATEST 830 AM EASTERN: Many opposition units are laying down their arms in a half a dozen or more towns in the Daraa countryside accepting the Russian brokered deal and some Syrian soldiers have reached the Jordanian border southeast of Daraa city,)
There were several airstrikes overnight in the town of Na'eema in the Daraa region with the 12 hour truce planned overnight not applying to all areas of southwestern Syria according to a Twitter post.
Land attacks were also reported on the west side of the city of Daraa by dawn Friday June 29th with ground forces advancing under support of artillery and missiles.
There is also a claim this morning of the town of Al Hirak coming under government control.
The Israeli website "DEBKAfile" claims that Iranian and Hezbollah fighters are mixed in with an Iraqi unit called the "Liwa Zulfqar" militia. An article published yesterday (June 28th) contends that Russian guarantees to the US, Israel and Jordan about Iranian military involvement in the southern Syrian offensive have been breached.
Israel uses the notion of Iranian-Hezbollah forces near its borders to justify military action in Syria.
The "Southfront" website reported that the pressure is on opposition forces to accept Russia offers of a deal to withdraw from southwestern Syria or face more military action against them.
I expect a special reorientation lesson coming Iran’s way, someday soon.
What happens next will be very interesting perhaps:
Is the next “chemical attack” allegation around the corner triggering more military action from the US-UK-France?
Will Israel claim Iranian involvement in the current operation and launch military operations?
Syria/Russia already called the next attack a “false flag”.
Your use of the terms “allegation” and “claim” imply skepticism, which I believe is totally unwarranted.
Iran IS involved, and that is a direct threat to Israel.
Israel will address that threat.
This is NOT the U.S. “getting involved in a ground war in S.E. Asia”!!!
The Iranian regime is circling the drain, and Assad/Russia are trying to fill the vacuum - maybe help push it along.
