She shot him in the head, but...
The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries...A larger caliber weapon might be worth considering. Still, I'm glad things worked out ok for her and the kids in this instance.

I’m surprised she didn’t shoot him in the back of the head. She was in the back seat, she had warned him twice, and the whole family was being kidnapped in the carjacking. Who knows what he would have done to them if he’d gotten to a more secluded area?

In NJ, where I grew up, the police would have arrested her - for even having the gun outside of her home, let alone using it.
Thank God that I’m in Texas now...and my wife would do the same (and then probably dismember and burn the body, and still be pissed about not having done enough, 20 years later).

He probably lost control of a lot more than just the vehicle. Since the head shot did not seem to hurt him very much, I would Imagine that a lot more was being evacuated out of the other end.

A lot of folks on this thread are writing about the lack of accuracy or a small caliber bullet because he was not killed by the head shot.
I have a friend who was a surgeon in the Air Force who spent a lot of time in the Sandbox taking care of our wounded troops. He told me he saw many head wounds that should have been totally fatal but the bullets would enter the skull, turn and then travel around the inside wall of the skull. This did damage but there were several where it was so minimal the patients didn’t seem to have any real brain damage.
