Philippine fast-food giant Jollibee has taken another step forward in its planned re-entry into the Guam market with the announcement of its hiring plan for its new store on island.
The $2 million construction project to build a standalone Jollibee in the Micronesia Mall parking lot broke ground earlier this year.
Jollibee posted a recruitment notice in June at Guam Community College seeking applications from those who may be interested in joining its restaurant team. The food establishment is looking for managers, supervisors and crew members.
According to the information posted by the company, the hiring process for crew members will begin at the end of the year. Applicants were advised to submit their resumés to hiring@jollibeeguam.com.
The Jollibee corporate office in the Philippines previously confirmed to The Guam Daily Post its Guam restaurant will open in the fourth quarter of this year.
Jollibee had two franchise-run restaurants on Guam and two on Saipan, but its Marianas presence ended more than a decade ago as the islands went through an economic downturn. Jollibee also had trouble competing with Guam players who offered larger portions.
The company builds, runs and franchises quick-service restaurants. A Jollibee international franchise applicant must have a minimum net worth of $5 million, according to the company's website.
206 stores and growing
According to its corporate office, as of April this year, Jollibee had 206 stores worldwide, with 37 in the United States, two in Canada, 38 in the Middle East, 100 in Vietnam, eight in Hong Kong, five in Singapore, 15 in Brunei and one in Italy.
Known for its crispy fried chicken, sweet spaghetti and other Filipino twists on patties, hot dogs, egg rolls and noodles, Jollibee announced its planned Guam re-entry as part of its overseas expansion plans.
We have a few of them in this area of Florida. Weird place. No ketchup.
206 worldwide? Maybe 206 outside of the Philippines, but you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a Jollibee here in the PI.
We have an office in RP which i go to 3x a year. I head to that place aside from Goodah when Im there and there’s a few here in Socal/L.A.
I go to Jollibee once in a while. A year ago, one of my cars broke down and the black dude AAA we were comparing fast food and he just kept saying Jollibee. He then said black people love the chicken there because it’s like “crack” LOl. Probably the only place where they give you FREE GRAVY when you buy the bucket. KFC doesnt do that nor Popeye’s.
I hope it’s not too heavy.
Guam’s population keeps rising, and they keep building. Eventually, they will reach . . . the tipping point.

Not in Texas for some reason.
They should at least have Jufran (banana "ketchup"). IMHO, it is superior to tomato ketchup.
True. There are a ton of them, here in Davao City too, but we also have Greenwhich, KFC, McDonalds, and Burger King. 👍
Ping
Anthony Bourdain did a segment on Jollibee in Manila. He said that there are over 900 stores in the PI. Fwiw, there is one about 3 miles from my house, Ive havent tried it. It is also the only store in the state of Virginia.
Ping.
My son knew of them from online friends, went to the one in JAX when we were there for a family event. Looks interesting.
Got caught up with Duterte.
Going over to Jollibee now.
The Philippines LOVES banana ketchup.
So do I.
Yep, it is.
>>IMPOSSIBLE !
>>The Philippines LOVES banana ketchup.
I asked. The Asian lady at the counter said “No ketchup.”
There were no offers of banana ketchup, banana sauce. They offered me some yellowish stuff.
