The proper hermeneutic for approaching The Bible.
Have just started today reading a book called “How to Read the Bible for All its Worth” by Gordon Fee & Douglas Stuart. I introduced my son to the two terms exegesis & hermeneutics. Of course we are both learning together. This was an assigned book required for his 8th grade level this coming year. Started reading it and thought I would have my son begin early. Good stuff!
Roy Zuck, Basic Bible Interpretation.
Dont have that one.
Exegesis and Hermeneutics ...
Can you give Us a little
education ?
LOL-when I get it down pat-I will I promise!
Exegesis is getting something out of a Bible passage. It is opposed to eisegesis, which is reading something into the Bible. Exegesis is good; eisegesis is bad.
Your hermeneutic is your interpretive approach to the Bible. It is a framework for interpretation, and it could be good or bad. Hebrews explains the typology found in the Old Testament, which is great for giving us a proper biblical hermeneutic.

Do NOT read and interpret the bible on your own!!
The One True Church will explain everything to you; if you'd only ask.
