Army Vet Saves an Eagle by Shooting at it

For two-and-a-half days the beautiful bald eagle hung upside down from the tree. Officials from DNR, police and fire dept. had known about the bird’s predicament, but were unable to help due to red tape jurisdiction and safety.

No need to fear, enter Jason Galvin an Army vet with great shooting skills stepped up to the plate with his .22 long rifle to shoot through the rope that was holding a bald eagle captive 70 feet up.

Mr. Galvin said in the video "It was kind of weird, actually shooting in the direction of a bald eagle. I was very nervous. I didn’t want at all to hit that bird!"

After 150 shots (about an hour-and-a-half) the eagle was free and off to a wildlife rehabilitation center where it is expected to survive. See the news footage of Army Vet saves an eagle here.

Years ago, I watched FReeper Glades Guru and a friend cut a high tree branch (2” in diameter) with an AK-47. They called it “ballistic tree trimming”. It took an incredible amount of rounds - all direct hits - before it severed.

My concern for falling rounds (they were shooting nearly straight up) were poo-pooed: “Nobody’s in the ‘Glades on a weekday”. (-:

It works much better after an ice storm, when the branches are loaded down with the weight of the frozen water. A single well place round will do it :)
