Really neat shotgun. One I've never seen. The stamp on it is Paris, France and no there is no white flag with it and it does not come with a beret.
Don’t know why the trigger guard is coming loose, but I’d bet with practice you could load fire & eject faster than a standard O/U gun.
I was thinking that as well on both. Trigger guard loose and you could load and fire fast.

The buttstock is removable. The rear of the trigger guard isn’t fastened to the stock for that reason.
Thanks. I missed that. Not that the stock was removable but because that would be why the trigger guard appeared to be loose.
After watching the video, my summation is that the trigger guard isn’t loose it’s built with clearance for the butt stock removal. Since it has to rotate to be removed it needs some space.
Very interesting example of early innovations that were going on at the time, 1875-1880. Interesting to know if it has proof marks on the bbls.

The French have made some very unusual weapons (some very elegant-some not). They all work, but many times they are more complicated than needed. As such they have never caught on. I have always wanted a Darne Shotgun, but the cost of routine repairs, has always caused caution.
