Even at 17 he should have known better. But if he says he has changed I would take him at his word. What I find interesting is that we are supposed to go lightly on (in comparison to an full adult) a 17 year old if he murders somebody because of his stage of brain development but hang him from the yard-arm if stuff like this surfaces.
