Completion of Sanderson Farms' new Poultry Complex is just around the corner.

They're working to fill 1,600 new jobs to get the complex up and running, according to Brent Glasgow with Sanderson.

"Sanderson Farms is bringing a fully integrated poultry event to the Tyler area. With a feed mill, hatchery, processing plant as well," Glasgow said.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week, they're holding interest sessions at the Skills Training Center at Tyler Junior College's West Campus.

There will be three sessions each day, at 9 a.m, 1 p.m and 6 p.m.

"Going through some information about our company, our culture, as well as some of the jobs and the specifics of those jobs," Glasgow said.

Those jobs range from working at the plant, to management, sales, customer service and more.

"We're looking for motivated people that just want to come to work every day, people that are able to demonstrate good work ethic, that want to be part of the Sanderson Team and the Sanderson Culture," Glasgow said.

While no degree or special certification is required for many of the jobs, lots of students from TJC's Industrial Maintenance Technology Program end up with jobs at Sanderson, according to Link Worthen, a professor at TJC.

"Right at this moment, I have five people all throughout Texas working in Industrial Internships between their first and second years of college working at Sanderson Farms Plants," Worthen said.

He said he has lots of students, both past and present, who will be attending the sessions this week because of the reputation that Sanderson has as an employer.

"And some people work right here in Tyler already, that graduated just two months ago in May as maintenance people for Sanderson. Very high paid jobs, very well rewarded," Worthen said.

If hired, the first round of people who get jobs are expected to start right after Labor Day.

After the sessions, Sanderson reps will call people back for interview who they think are good fits for the company.

There seem to be a lot of damp Americans in Tyler as a result of the rose cultivation business which is a very big deal there.

ICE should be interviewing applicants. They won’t because they’re never around when you need them.

Up in Arkansas they big poultry company fired all the native workers, almost entirely black, in favor of illegal aliens, which, lemme tell ya, really ruined the park experience for my family when we went there on vacation.

I suspect they will still be plenty of hires
them among them for the manual labor needs.
