During a concern-filled installment of CNN’s The Situation Room on Monday, host Wolf Blitzer anxiously posited that revoking the clearance of CNN national security analyst James Clapper would constitute a “potential national security threat.”
Blitzer was quick to get Clapper on the phone after it was revealed that his security clearance might be in danger.

Every other employee who leaves the Gov’t loses their clearance - why are these people special ?
Are traitors such as Clapper with their security clearances a source of leaks? I wish President Trump had just done it instead of announcing it ahead of time. That NEVER works well when the maniacs are given warning and time to gin up opposition.

Well, I agree he is a security threat. I think I’ve heard Ed Rollins say Clapper used to be an excellent intelligence officer and it’s sad to see what has become of him. Rollins pointed out Clapper’s physical appearance has deteriorated, as well.
People usually have their clearances revoked once they are no longer in a job that requires a security clearance.
There is never any reason for a reporter or journalist to have access to classified information.
Trump should simply say “These people don’t have a need to know about anything. Therefore they don’t need any kind of security clearance.”
Makes perfect sense from the point of view of CNN and Clapper being agents of a foreign power.

I only had a Secret clearance, but when I left the Army it was revoked. How did these people keep theirs?
Exactly, what you said. A responsible network would be all for cutting off the security sources for anyone who didn’t have a legitimate “need to know”.
