No matter how biased outlets like CNN and BBC are, they do a much better job in objectively reporting events such as the shootings on the Danforth than most of the Canadian media does
As it is in other places, most newsworthy events that take place in Canada are of little interest to those outside the country or even beyond the local area where the occurrence took place. There are exceptions of course; since his election in 2015, Justin Trudeau has received a lot of coverage in the international media. At first, these news outlets fawned over the little narcissist, portraying him as the new Obama. After his disastrous trip to India where he and his family spent most of their time changing their clothes, Trudeau became an international laughing stock.
I noticed that it seems that all media reports ran through the local politicians. I find this very disturbing

There are also some of the media sponsors and political contributors with motives for keeping voters in western culture nations divided against one another (e.g., #FreeTommy).

You should watch the Canadian Broadcasting Corp taped coverage of Election Night 2016 on YouTube. The moderator is fairly even-handed but every commentator he has ranges from strong Trump hatred (the supposed conservatives such as the warmonger Bushite David Frum) to venom dripping from the mouth on air hatred of him and his supporters. No balance of any type wanted or shown. There is a black woman commentator on it who is so vile in her comments that she is actually funny.
Yeah, well, we elected Obama twice, and Hillary won the popular vote.
Our freedom hangs on a very thin thread, and Trump is the only one fighting for it. The Republican party is either part of the swamp or gutless twerps.
We know Canadians who visit PGA West every November and are all cancelling their vacation plans this year. Also another that lives on the Bermuda Dunes Course is selling his home.
There is a real strain on any text/email conversations..to be expected due to their CNN indoctrination. Not all, but most Canadians put maple syrup ahead of their golf plans. Their feeling is that if they’re accused of robbing the piggy bank, they’re not going to put any more money into it.
That explains a lot! My canadian colleagues are for the most part nice people, but they sure have a warped idea of current events.

why are Canadian opinions “warped” ...we get more U.S. news exposure in a day than you Americans get of Canadian affairs in a year...we know what is happening in your back yard and are happiest when we are not on your radar screen..like now... a sad but relatively rare event compared to atrocities perpetrated by these bastards in Europe and the USA in recent years. Our small population has sucessfully managed the affairs of the second largest country on earth for 150 years with little fanfare..we are good neighbours...let us grieve in peace.

We have friends who live in the Montreal area. They watch Fox News all the time, and have for many years. They also listen to Rush, Howie Carr, and other American conservative talk radio hosts on local radio. The radio stations might be from the U.S. I'm not sure...
