Post-Apocalyptic Guns

Here's some pics from Imgur user ricraynor of a post-apocalyptic style custom rifle build that looks like from a Mad Max film.
The two rifles, an AR flattop build constructed with a split wooden stock around the buffer tube and what used to be an Ottoman Turkish Mauser, seem like they are a step away from being shiny and chrome.
But before you get worked up about hacking up the vintage bolt-gun, the creator cautions the Mauser was on its last legs and was no longer collectible. So the next best thing besides throwing it away is to custom build it. See the rest of post apocalyptic guns here.

The garden rake is a nice touch...

Is that an assault rake?

The rake looks like a good hand to hand weapon.

Nothing says post apocalyptic like a pipe pistol.

Vicious butt stroke with the Mauser.

I wonder, if you butt stroke someone with and AR, can it damage the buffer tube?

Reminds me of the Guns and Ammo magazine article from around 1970 in which California prisoners had made semi auto firearms “BEHIND PRISON WALLS”.

Why put a stock on a post apocalyptic AR ? Does the ATF still patrol the wasteland ?

I operate an AR pistol now that I could easily just wrap the buffer tube for a cooler looking gun, plus it would take about 1/700th the amount of time to do so.

The wrapped stocks though.. I’ve thought about doing that with my 10/22 a few times. The barrel straps are junk, unless I use my unpainted and sanded aluminum strap. Then I have an ugly screw hanging off the bottom of it. Come to think of it, I think I’ll wrap it with laced leather just because it’s a good idea.

Back in the 70’s, my shop teacher told us that we would build a gun as our 23rd project. Our syllabus was 25 projects. No one got past project 10.
