[How would we feel about some hostile foreign legislator suggesting the US be broken up into individual states because we’re too dangerous to them united?]

Nothing to do with feelings. It’s a reality.

I don’t think any American in a position of responsibility has suggested that this is a good pretext for conquering and annexing Mexico. But Russians are using this factual statement, given Russia’s 600-year record of expansion from a small kingdom on the banks of the Volga, to justify the conquest and annexation of the Baltic states. In other words, this is just another iteration of the Russian mindset for the last half-millennium. The Russian state is nature writ large, red in tooth and claw.

I fought against soviet communism. Directly.

But too many people on this forum still have their heads stuck in 1970. I see stupid comments like ‘never trust a Russian’.

If Russia wanted the Baltic states they could take them completely in a week and that would be the end of the matter. Might be a risky move with Trump in office but they could have done it with no repercussions when Obama was prez.

Russia has excellent to good justification for the actions they have taken in the Crimea, Ukraine, and Georgia.

And please point me to what government official in Russia is suggesting provocative statements by this idiot Latvian justifies war?

Ya’lls knees keep jerking like some hippie in 1969....

That’s a pretty strong assertion that comes across as anti-Russian prejudice and paranoia. What you got to back that up?
