Conspiracy of Silence in Catholic Dioceses
Canada Free Press ^ | 08/03/18 | Katy Grimes

The culture wars we are fighting are indeed as deep as the Catholic Church, but it's not limited to the Catholic Church, and it's not just a gay thing. Corruption wears many disguises, including liturgical garments. Don't let the robes fool you

The conspiracy of silence in the Catholic Church over scandals involving sex, homosexuality, cover-ups, payouts, betrayal, and corruption have left many Catholics disillusioned and even angry. Corruption wears many disguises, including liturgical garments.

As Part l of “Conspiracy of Silence in Catholic Dioceses”, I addressed, Sacramento Bishop Jaime Soto as one such cover-up agent, according to many area Catholics—not just many Catholics, but every Catholic in the region I’ve spoken to says this.

I’m responding to your post 10 where you stated that you were willing to bet that the majority of Catholics break the 6th commandment every day. Note that we are dealing with the sixth, not the ninth.
Are you saying Roman Catholics do not commit adultery....not just the physical act....but lust as defined by Christ?

Lust as defined by Christ falls under the 9th commandment. While the sixth and the ninth are certainly closely related, they are still distinct—already committed adultery with her in his heart is not the same thing as already committed adultery with her with his body.

I never claimed that no Catholics commit adultery, and moreover, I will grant that some where, at any given moment, some of the 1.2 billion Catholics are committing adultery, there is a huge leap between that and the claim that over 600 million Catholics (i.e a majority) commit adultery every day, and an even higher rate on weekends. I’m inclined to guess that your view of reality is warped by close to 2 orders of magnitude—there are a fair number of Catholics who are shacked up or married outside the Church, and I’m inclined to grant simple fornication in your favour.

I see a trend with you, speaking of mature posts, you’ve never done one. Is commenting on the sexual habits of Catholics what you call ‘mature’? I would call that juvenile and asinine, but that’s what I expect from you!!

Well, yes.....it is the same.

27“You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY’; [the commandment we're discussing]

28but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

I never claimed that no Catholics commit adultery,

You claimed it was a minority....I disagree and suggest it is a majority.

Suffice it to say that not everyone, and probably only a minority, of Catholics are actively violating the 6th commandment in a given week,...

...and moreover, I will grant that some where, at any given moment, some of the 1.2 billion Catholics are committing adultery, there is a huge leap between that and the claim that over 600 million Catholics (i.e a majority) commit adultery every day, and an even higher rate on weekends.

If the mere thought of lusting after a woman constitutes adultery, then my estimate is very realistic.....maybe even understated.

I’m inclined to guess that your view of reality is warped by close to 2 orders of magnitude—there are a fair number of Catholics who are shacked up or married outside the Church, and I’m inclined to grant simple fornication in your favour.

My view is based on reality.

Again, you're not understanding the NT Scriptural definition of adultery.

It's not just the physical act that constitutes adultery. The NT is clear on that.

and the protestants as well, idiot! Likely it isn’t a problem for you, as stupid, fat, and ignorant isn’t all that attractive to the opposite sex.

I think you've been warned against a continuation of making personal attacks on the RF...and quite recently as well.....but I see you don't learn.

However, you are indeed a representative for Roman Catholicism!

I’m not suggesting that committing adultery in the heart is not serious—the 9th commandment, by our numbering, did make the cut—but there is a difference between this and, in Paul’s words, actually joining one’s body to another.

You did not merely suggest a majority of Catholics commit adultery—you said that you would wager that every day a majority of Catholics commit adultery.

Defend, condemn, or amend.

I’m not suggesting that committing adultery in the heart is not serious—

Jesus equated it to adultery...hence breaking the commandment.

the 9th commandment, by our numbering, did make the cut—but there is a difference between this and, in Paul’s words, actually joining one’s body to another.

I'll post the words of Christ one more time.

27“You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY’; 28but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:27-28 NASB

You did not merely suggest a majority of Catholics commit adultery—you said that you would wager that every day a majority of Catholics commit adultery.

Wager, suggest....in either case the majority of Roman Catholics, Methodists, Baptists, Presbyterians, etc....commit adultery based on the way Christ defines it.

He equated lusting after a woman to have already committed adultery. It's crystal clear. The thought of sex with a woman is equal to adultery. It's a violation of the commandment.

When did your wife commit suicide? I’m sure she’d rather die than sleep with you? And you’re a perfect representation of a Christian attitude. You’re a very definition of hypocrite!

Wow. Just. Wow. I'm talking with a fifth grader.

I don’t have a denomination but I know of pastors who have been removed from the pulpit and had their credentials pulled for garden variety adultery or porn use.

I’ve also been part of churches that remove names from the membership list for unrepentant adultery in one case, and extortion in another.

The churches I go to practice church discipline and take sin in their pastors and members seriously.

Matthew 5:27-28 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

You don't even have to do the deed to be guilty of the sin of adultery.

No special knowledge of the sexual habits of Catholics is required.

Just an understanding of human nature.

According to Jesus, it is.
