And those great old serials from the '30's and '40's have been recut into two hour feature films - last Sunday afternoon the "Comet" sci-fi channel had a marathon of three of them (maybe all there are) - fantastic-

In the late ‘40s there were only 3 neighbors who had TVs in my neighborhood. In the Summer, one of them would let about a half dozen of us young denizens into her house to watch the Flash Gordon serial on TV in the hot afternoons.
We were entranced. That was when the space ships were spewing out sparks when they were flying.
