Clearly, the author of the article don’t think good writing
be important; but it do.

Am noticing a significant increase of poor English; grammar, sentence structure, and spelling, in newspapers.
Young folks never learned the rules and there are few editors to catch
the problems before they are published.

The internet with twitter and the like encourages faulty spelling and grammar.

Reporters probably have always been semi-literate; as you suggested, there aren’t many copy editors out there these days to save the writers from embarrassment.
